Can you believe I've already finished 1/3 of my mission?? I don't know about you, but that FLEW!!
The
Forrestfield sisters had a baptism this week! It was Brodie, a 9 year
old boy that I used to teach when I was in Forrestfield! He is the
cutest. He has such conviction and love for the gospel and the things
he's learning. He is a pioneer for his family. They will soon be
following his example. It was so good to see his whole family again! The
baptism was really special. He invited his neighbors and friends and
family, none of whom are members!
On Sunday,
he was confirmed and that was great too. In Relief Society, his mom,
Nadia was in the back with her 18 month old girl, Ava (ahvay) and all of
a sudden I hear Ava say, "Bones, Stones, Cell Phones!" Hahaha!! I was
dying! When I was in Forrestfield, I taught her a secret handshake and
we would do it every time I came. "Bones (hit fists), Stones (hit
elbows), Cell Phones (make a phone with your hand and put it up to your
ear)! Hahaha! Totally made my day.
We have been
having lots of great lessons with lots of people, but it's time for
them to start progressing! Haha. I know if I have the faith, things will
start moving!
We have had to do lots of finding lately which
includes tracting (aka door knocking). It's so.... wonderful....? We do
find the odd person that is actually nice and will have a conversation
with us, so that's nice. ;)
We taught Yvette and Brent the 10
commandments using hand signals to remember them. Haha! It was hilarious
seeing them try to remember them and do the actions. Missionary work is
fun!
The other day, we went to visit Gemma and Steve. As we
were leaving, I gave Gemma a hug and then reached around Sister Parsons
to give Steve a handshake. Instead he opens up wide as if to give me a
hug and for about 2 seconds it was the most awkward moment of my
life!!!!! Hahahaha!!! We just stood there like...awkward. So then I just
gave him a quick hug and ran away! Hahaha! Not really but yep it was
way awkward. Gemma and Sister Parsons just stood there laughing! We got
in the car and I was crying I was laughing so hard from the
AWKWARDNESS!!!! Oye. The life of a missionary.
We
had a good lesson with John (he came to the baptism with his 2 kids!
yaya!) using an orange and a bowl of water. If we took the peel off, it
sunk in the bowl. But with the peel, it stayed afloat. That is like us,
we need to keep our "peel" on, or our armor on and we won't sink and we
will be protected from temptation.
I read this quote this week, "The true key to happiness is to labor for the happiness of others." I testify that this is true.
Find someone that you can labor for to make them happy.
Love,
Sister Beardall
