Another week down here in WA!
A few things:
I
tried Vegemite. It was only 1/8 of a teaspoon with butter on some
bread. I could only eat 1/2 the slice of bread and then I was done.
Gross. I don't know how to describe it...I guess if someone had just
come home from digging in manure in sweating form the 105 degree weather
and you licked his arm, it would probably taste like Vegemite.
I
also ate Kangaroo!!! It's way good. We had dinner at a less active
family's home and they BBQ'd lots of different meat. As I was eating, I
asked what all the meat was and he said one thing was kangaroo! Its
tender and has a good flavor...
The fruit here is amazing!!! It's so dark and ripe and juicy and delicious!
I see green and red parrots all the time and also pink and gray cockatoos! So cool.
We went to a dinner appointment and got DRENCHED! It was awkward at the door having to ask for a towel...haha! |
Some cool trees. |
Another cool tree. |
So
we are teaching this woman, Martha from Africa, and we were sitting at
her table waiting for her to finish dishing up dinner for her kids and
as I was sitting there talking, my chair broke and collapsed from
under me! My life literally flashed before my eyes! One second I was
sitting on the chair talking, and the next second, I was sitting on a
pile of a chair on the ground! It was so embarrassing! Martha quickly
came over to me and helped me up. I awkwardly stood up in my skirt
trying to be modest and got a new chair. Hahahah!! I now have a huge
blue bruise under my arm... the things I signed up for...
This hill was so steep. We went to visit a member, but there were so many gates and we couldn't get to his house...so we had to turn around and walk back. |
This is the mail man. He resembles us when we bring back our groceries... |
A peacock! |
Miracle story:
We
were riding down a street looking for an address. It was 7B on a
certain street. We couldn't find a 7B, but found a 7 on a close street.
We walked up the driveway to the porch and there was a guy sitting on a
lawn chair on the porch. We asked him if he knew where 7B was on the
street we were looking for. He tried to help. We told him who we were
and he had heard of the Latter-Day Saints before! We started talking to
him and he literally sounded like he was Mormon. He's about 28 and has
so much faith. All he needs to add is water (baptism)! We are so excited
to come back and teach him. Who knew we could find him when we weren't
even looking for him. Such a miracle.
We are
teaching about 4 investigators right now. Last week they were
progressing, but this week they didn't do so well...we need lots more
people to teach. I hope they will continue to progress!
We had Zone Conference this week and I learned a lot from President Fife and his wife.
Our zone! Southern River Zone |
If we give God everything we have, He will give us everything He has. And that is one heck of an exchange rate!
Also,
we live in a world that is trying to be "original". There is nothing
more "original" than sin. If you want to be original, be a righteous person!"
We don't give up as a child of God. Ever. We get up. God is with us every step
of the way! Always! When we learned how to ride a bike and we fell did
our parents yell at us? Did they leave us on the ground and walk away?
No! They picked us back up and said, "Keep going. You can do it. Get
back up. Come on." They were right by our sides the entire way. God is
the same way! When we fall, he doesn't get all angry and yell and storm
away. He stays with us, tells us, "Come on. Get back up. I'm right here.
You can do it. Keep going." We might throw a pity party and say, "I
can't do it. No. I'm not good enough. I just can't..." But God stays,
saying, "Yeah you can't if you stay on the ground. Get back up. Let's
try again." He will always be there. Always. Always. There are no pity parties on the pathway to Heaven. Don't give up. Get up.
I
love Mondays! I open up my email and see lots of emails from some of
you! Thank you all for your love and support. I love mail!!! Keep it up.
Haha.
I hope you all will take some time to
ponder God and His love for you, and then decide what you will do
because of it. I am learning everyday here and yep, it's already hard,
but I knew it would be. I couldn't do it without the Holy Ghost and it's
guidance. I love my Savior and Father in Heaven. I hope to please them
in everything I do and say.
Sending love from the rainy/cold/super hot area of Forrestfield!
Love,
Sister Beardall
