This was a very good week for me. We had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders in Scarborough - beautiful. The theme for us sisters this transfer is 'Trust in God'. I'm doing that...better...or more consciously, and I feel like He is walking with me, knocking with me, teaching with me. Trust is an interesting concept. I remember the first time I actually let someone catch me while doing the 'Trust Fall'. I told myself I'd never do it. But I did and the moment I let go of fear or doubt and just trusted they'd catch me, I felt free! Now I do it all the time, no worries, and it's just an excuse to help the other person get a workout... I'm not as light as I used to be. :)
We celebrated Australia Day by going to Zone Conference and being under the Air Con in 107 degree weather!! It's raining now, though. Thank you Heavenly Father.
Get this:
"As soon as you are willing to fail, your success rate will increase." -Elder Vainikolo
"If we are afraid to fail we won't succeed." -Pres. Fife
Develop the need and desire to weep and plead on behalf of your investigators and the people you are teaching (or in your case, your son or daughter, your brother or sister, your friend, your neighbor). Give all of your heart and mind to praying for them.
"Don't only wear out your shoes and knuckles (from knocking), but your knees from pleading." -Pres. Fife
The Lord is able to do His own work. He does 99.99% of the work and we maybe do .01%. What is our work then? Doctrine and Covenants 11:20. He wants to use us because of what it does to us. Why would anyone complain about God developing us to become like and return to Him?? He is trying to help us feel the feelings of Godliness. That .01% is 100% important to us because it is how we become.
Sister Fife gave a training on the Safeguards for using technology:
(they reassured us we wouldn't be getting iPads, but this was for when we get home)
Technology is given to us from God. The purpose is divine. We have technology as a liahona to teach us light and truth and knowledge. It can be a urim and thumim for us! You can carry the entire gospel library on a skinny piece of metal and glass...
Pornography is the plague of our generation. As we strive to repent, we will stumble. We will fall short and sin again. (PMG page 62&63)
To master your body and your brain gain: truth, light, obedience, repentance.
Eliminate Satan's power in your life. "Tell Satan, 'Get a life. Oh, actually it's to late for that. Get lost." -Sister Fife
Repentance is a lifelong process. It's not just one and done.
We are on the path. We are heading home. Let's keep going. When you stumble, get up.
The journey of life is hard, but what you carry in your backpack makes it a lot easier. Are you carrying bricks or the scriptures? It's your choice.
Use Personal Prayer in the morning for the power to resist temptation.
The pull of the world is constantly pulling us. We have to continually repent and turn ourselves to face God.
"We fall in lust. We grow in love." -Pres. Fife
Man, there's so much. I'll have to give a talk on it when I get home or something.... ;)
I want you to know that I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church restored here on this earth. Jesus Christ is my Savior. Joseph Smith is a prophet called by God. The Priesthood is the power of God. The Book of Mormon is true. I am God's daughter. Thomas Monson is God's living prophet on the earth today. He points us to Christ. Follow him and everything will be okay.
Love,
Sister Beardall
