I have had a good week. I hope you have too.
It's the coolest feeling looking back at your life and realizing how much you have changed, learned, and grown!!!! It's crazy to think that there is sooooo much more for me to experience too! I'm excited.
We had some awkward moments this week. Wanna hear? Okay, fine.
We were biking, trying to talk to everyone and there was this husband, wife, and little boy. The couple was older and it looked like the little boy was their grandson. So I said, "Aww cute! Is this your grandson?" They basically scowled at me and said, "Nope." "Oh! Is he your son?? He is so cute!!" SOOO AWKWARD. You just can't recover from that. In my defense, the boy was like one and a half, and they looked 60!
Another time, a member referred their neighbors to us, so we went to go visit them! The man, Tony answered the door and was really nice! There was a lady in the background but her back was to us. I asked, "Oh! Is that your wife?" Nope. His daughter. I really need to improve my guessing game skills....
On Sunday, a member said she would pick us up for church so we went to meet her outside and she was already there so we went to get in her car but it was locked. The window was rolled down and she looked at us with a horrified look and said, "You're not getting in my car!" IT WASN'T OUR MEMBER!!!!
There was another time, we were in a lesson with a new investigator, Lola. We invited her to be baptised and she said yes, but she wanted to go to church first. Deal. I was going to attempt to set a date but the whole month of July completely left my mind and for the life of me I couldn't think of any dates of the Saturdays in July. As I was rambling, I was looking at my comps, giving them the wide eyes, the eyebrows, nostril flares, everything, to tell them to help me out, but they didn't catch on. Companionship unity at it's finest. ;) We ended up telling her that church would be on the 19th. So yeah. That's as far as we got with that. I've repented and memorized the next 5 Saturday dates.
We got transfer news and Sister Sinaga and I are staying here in Waikiki!! We love it here in Hawaii. JK. It's nothing like Hawaii, not that I've been there. But yeah! I'm way excited to stay!! Sister Mortensen is going to be a Sister Training Leader in the Dianella Zone! She will be amazing. We will miss her. Hopefully we don't get too lost, Sister Sinaga and I. The Lord is our Light. He will guide us.
Hailey and Kiana have come to church 2 times in a row!! I think that is an all time record for me here on my mission. Not even kidding. They are progressing really well!! I have faith they will keep going. The gospel brings a lot of happiness and hope to our lives and that is what they need. I'm grateful Heavenly Father led us to them!
We are teaching the cutest lady named Noi. She is from Thailand and has 2 kids. They are also way cute. Noi and Jessica are now on date to be baptized. The thing is they go to their son/brother's soccer game every Sunday so church is a problem... I don't want to pray that he breaks his leg, but I kinda do at the same time. ;)
I went on Splits with Sister Tusi this week and we tracted lots and lots. We met this lady from Chile who is a PE teacher and really wants to come to our sports nights that we hold every Friday! She is so cool. She has met missionaries in the past and just talked to us like we were her besties. Love that. There are a LOT of potential investigators, and although planting seeds is necessary, I hope we will be able to reap what we are sowing!! I know God is preparing ALL His children and we are just trying to help them use their agency, and find our brothers and sisters who will receive us.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes! It will be weird having a winter birthday this year! Someone stole my bike overnight. My favourite Bequia is gone.... I seriously miss her. A member (man) has been letting me borrow his really nice bike so I'm not complaining. But I'll have to give that back soon. If anyone wants to send me a bike for my birthday, I won't say no. I promise to lock it everywhere I go. I'm naming the next bike: Lak. (pronounced: Lock) Just so I will NEVER ever forget. It's the creepiest feeling knowing a robber was at our house and we didn't even know it. 8 bikes have been stolen in the Australia Perth Mission within the last 3 weeks.... wow.
BUT! Life is SO good! I am sooo happy. I love being a missionary and I love these people here that we are teaching. :)
