This week has been so good. Last Sunday, Sister
Parsons and I fasted that Heavenly Father would soften the hearts of the
people we teach and the people we would meet. By the end of last week,
we have 4 new investigators, and each of them have such soft hearts,
they're basically liquid!!! I can finally say I have gained a testimony
of fasting. Missionary work makes me happy.
New Investigators:
Brent-Yvette's
husband. He was never interested in listening in on our discussions
with Yvette. He would occasionally say hello but there was no interest
there whatsoever. This week we set up a lesson with Yvette and Troy and
when we came, Brent also pulled up a chair and sat down! What??!? We
taught a lesson on the Restoration using some cups we made with taped
pictures and the priesthood, making the tower fall when it was taken
away...can you picture? Maybe I'll take a pic and show y'all someday.
But when we rebuilt the tower again, the FULLNESS of the gospel of Jesus
Christ, it all clicked and he said, "That, makes sense." Inside I was
screaming!!! Yayayay!!!
He came to the ward dinner we had and
he is reading his Book of Mormon everyday for 15 minutes (a time he set
for himself). He even said the closing prayer. Complete Miracle. Liquid
Heart.
Melissa-We have been trying to
contact her, as she is a former investigator. She finally answered her
door and she said right now she feels like she needs something more in
her life. She is a single mom and is going through a lot. She said if we
came 12 months ago, she would have turned us away. Her heart is soft.
Wendy-She
lives where a member used to live. The member moved two years ago. She
has a lot of land and when we pulled up to her house, she climbed over
her fence and walked towards us. We started talking about her, she lives
alone right now, as her husband is working overseas in America. She
started to soften and open up her box as we continued to talk. Finally
we asked her if she would be interested in us coming over to teach her
and she said YES! We saw her heart soften right before our eyes. I left
with 29 MOSQUITO BITES all up and down my legs and my hand!! I'll take
29 mozzie bites for a new investigator any day! (But I'd rather not, so
don't wish them upon me. Thanks.)
Gemma-I
talked about her last week. SHE CAME TO CHURCH! Oh my goodness she had
the best experience! We were so happy! It was Ward Conference last week.
Before the meeting started we said hello to our Stake President,
President Pemberton and told him we should have an investigator there!
There were really good talks given, and the second hour, Pres. Pemberton
taught the lesson. It was soo good and so involved. He is a great
teacher. We were sitting next to Gemma, she was on the outside and Pres.
Pemberton came up to her and said, "Do you trust these girls? How do
you feel when you are with them?" etc. He bore strong testimony to
everyone of the TRUTH of this church. He bodly said, if you are not a
member and you come to know the truth and you don't join, you're nuts!
Why would you not follow the truth? You would be nuts not to join! He
couldn't have said it better.
Something I was
thinking about in my studies was Excuses. I don't like excuses. Excuses
prevent us from reaching our true potential. Our true potential is so
grand! We have the potential to become Gods and Goddesses in Heaven! To
create worlds without end! To have all of the blessings that God
enjoys! But when we continue to make excuses in our lives of why we
can't do something or that it's too hard, or that we aren't ready, we
will never reach our true potential.
2Nephi
4:27-28 "And why should I yield to sin because of my flesh? Yea, why
should I give way to temptations, that the evil one have place in my
heart to destroy my peace and afflict my soul? Why am I angry because of
mine enemy?
"Awake my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart and give place no more for the enemy of my soul."
