It's been another good week of learning on the mish!
Working with Sister Wiest is a blast. She falls all the time. I don't understand.
Two
Sundays ago, we saw a lady with pink hair (so cool) at church who
hadn't been there before! Long story short, we got to know her and spent
church with her. She moved into our area recently. Her 12 year old son
just got baptized and she wants to too! We set up an appointment to meet
with her that Tuesday. On Tuesday,
we were a little early, so we knocked some doors in the neighborhood.
We went up someone's drive way and Sister Wiest started to fall and she
was catching herself with her left foot and after about 3 seconds of
that, she gave up and literally fell over with the bike landing on top
of her! It was soooo funny!!!! Hahahaha! Man. Tears were flowing. We
knocked on the door. No one answered. We went to another door. A lady
answered and I just started speaking. I said, "Hi! Are you Angela?"
Those words just came out of my mouth... She said, "No. I'm Samone, but
the lady over there (pointing to the house where Sister Weist crashed
and burned) is Angela." In my head I was thinking, "What??? Are you
kidding me!?!" I think it's a sign we are supposed to meet Angela. I
will keep you posted.
We ended up having an
AMAZING lesson with the lady who came to church and her son later in the
evening. She literally (well not literally) fell into our laps, and I'm
so grateful for that. I hope she will come to understand baptism and
what it means and will mean for the rest of her life. I know she will be
blessed as she makes those promises with Heavenly Father.
We
are teaching a cute Maori (from New Zealand) family with a less active
mom. Her 4 kids as well as her partner aren't members. We had an amazing
lesson totally led by the spirit. We taught them about Nephi and how he
was obedient to the commandments. We then started talking about the 10
commandments and when we got to Keep the Sabbath Day holy, they were
like, "Oh is that one of the 10 commandments?" The mom realized how they
"probably" need God in their lives and we invited them to come to
church. Fast forward to church. It's 9:06
and a miracle happened. They came to church!!!! We were so happy!! I
love them. We are making progress!!!! Also we made them a pumpkin pie
and they absolutely LOVED it. #miracles
Man, there is so much to write... I don't know how much you all like to read or what...
On Friday
we had Zone Conference in Rockingham. I LOVE ZONE CONFERENCE!! Sister
Ives from the MTC is now here!! She was visa waiting in CA. My new Zone
Leader is Elder Cordner from Highland! What a small world it is... He is
a very hard worker. His companion, Elder Brinkerhoff (aka
Clinkertrough) teared up when he was talking about how amazing his
companion is. We have great leaders. :) I left Zone Conference with the
drive to follow the spirit as in when I get a prompting DO IT!
(Sometimes I get scared. I'm working on killing the natural man inside.)
Also, with a drive to make our purpose as missionaries clear. Right
after ZC, we had a lesson with a former investigator and as I taught, I
really tried hard, to listen to what the spirit was telling me. I was
listening intently to what she was saying and listening to any thoughts
that came into my mind. She was talking about how she is afraid of death
and about the afterlife and a scripture came into my mind about how
death has no sting, and the grave no victory, because of the savior
Jesus Christ. I had no idea where that scripture was and I was hesitant
to get my BOM and search for it b/c it would be distracting. I did it
anyway, and literally the first page I flipped to and literally the
first verse I looked at was that exact scripture that came to my mind.
(Mosiah 16) Complete miracle from Heavenly Father. I know he will bless
us as we listen to and follow the promptings of the Spirit! I'm still in
awe. I love the Spirit. I love Heavenly Father. And I love Jesus
Christ.
I love yous.
Love,
