MTC Week 1

Hello everybody!!
Okay, I'll begin by saying this whole email thing is kind of crazayyy!! It took me like 20 minutes to finally figure out how to upload pics on these computers. But I figured it out. You're welcome. I opened my email to 12 new emails and it was the BEST! Thank you!! I love reading them all. Speaking of mail...

Mom. 4 BOXES OF KRISPY KREME?!?!?! ARE WE KIDDING? Hahaha! I got a package slip and went to go pick it up and the guy gives me all these doughnut boxes haha! As I walked back to my apartment, all the elders and sister were staring. It was awesome. I've only eaten doughnuts for breakfast lunch and dinner for the last few days...so... Just kidding. I literally gave an entire box to each of the companionships in my district. And then they shared with their roommates...everyone was eating doughnuts! I had a sister come to my room that night and she said, "Who's Sister Beardall? Girl, I just had to say, thank you for those doughnuts. You're the best." Haha so thank YOU mom! YOU are the best.

I played bball with a girl and some elders. Crushed the baseline shot-like always. Rolled my ankle, but I'm all good.

Do you think they'd give me a wheel chair b/c of all my blisters? Like I can't walk. I don't want to break in my shoes because they KILL!! I might just wrap my feet in moleskin... any advice?

I've seen a lot of people from Lone Peak! They probably don't know me but I recognize them...does anyone else ever feel like that? I saw Kyle Porter, Mikey Bready, Courtney Griffiths, and lots others. It makes me feel like I'm not the only one here when I see people I know.

So I love the MTC. People whistle "You Raise Me Up" in the stall next to you as you go to the bathroom. They also sing "Come Thou Fount" at the top of their lungs in the shower-opera style. It touches the heart, I'll just say that. Also the Orange Strawberry Banana juice is HEAVENLY!!! I love it so much!!!

I LOVE my district. They are seriously so awesome. There is a pic of all of us standing in front of the temple. Sister Penrod, Sister Collins, Sister Campbell, Me, Elder DeLahunty, Elder Newman, Elder Leal, Elder Brown. I am going to cry when I have to leave them! My comp is Sister Campbell. She is from Rigby Idaho. She is really nice. We have different personalities but...you know, not everyone is going to be the perfect match so it's all good! We are the Sister Training Leaders in our Zone. Teaching is hard. We have to focus on letting the spirit teach and helping the investigator increase their faith, repent, etc. Not just teach them some information. It's hard.

I loved this quote from Elder Holland: "It's so important that you teach with the Spirit. That is when it becomes the Lord's lesson and not your lesson. That is when the earth will shake. That is when the lightning will strike."

We watched the Character of Christ by Elder Bednar. I guess you can only see it at the MTC. It was AMAZING. Like life changed. The character of Christ turns OUTWARD. Even in His deepest anguish, suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, he asked his disciples to stay with him, but they fell asleep. He didn't get angry at them though. He understood they were probably tired. Then when Peter cut off the guard's ear, his first instinct was to heal his ear!! After he had just suffered all the anguish and pain of the entire world, after all that, he healed the guard's ear! If I had just done that, I would have been thinking about me and wanting people to comfort me. But not Christ. It wasn't about Him. Ever. It was always about other people. Everything he did, he turned OUTWARD. I invite you all to find more examples of when He did that in His life. There are so many examples. It was SO GOOD!!

I love you all.
And I love mail. So dearelder right now. (Our district leader delivers our mail to us every day so when i don't get mail, i cry inside.)
Say your prayers and read your scriptures.
Love,
Sister Beardall

(ps it has been so weird introducing myself as sister beardall. i keep almost calling myself McKayla, but then I catch myself. it's great.)
